As part of the operation of the Archive & Library of the Diocese of Bruges, it is necessary for us to process personal data. With this privacy statement we want to inform you how we handle your personal data.

We do everything we can to safeguard your privacy and therefore handle personal data with care. The Grootseminarie Brugge complies with the applicable laws and regulations, including the General Data Protection Regulation (Regulation EU 2016/679).

Sharing personal data with third parties

The Grootseminarie Brugge does not provide your data to third parties, unless this is necessary for carrying out the purposes described above or when we are legally required to do so.

With organisations that process your data on our behalf, we enter into a data processing agreement to ensure the same level of security and confidentiality of your data. The Grootseminarie Brugge remains responsible for these processing activities.

Audiovisual material

During events, exhibitions, lectures and other activities, photos and/or video recordings may be made. These images may be used for reporting in our communications, on our website and on social media.

If you do not wish to be photographed or filmed, please notify the organisation in advance. You can also contact us afterwards to have images removed.

Website & social media

This website is hosted on Google Firebase (Google Cloud). On every visit the hosting service processes technically necessary data, such as your IP address, the time and the requested page, in order to deliver the website securely and reliably. We do not use this data to identify you.

In addition, we count page views anonymously: for each view we only store the page visited, the type of device (mobile, tablet or desktop), the website you came from and the date. We do not use cookies for this, we store nothing on your device and we do not keep your IP address. If you have enabled Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control in your browser, your visit is not counted.

Reservation requests

When you submit a request via our booking tool, we process the data you enter: your first and last name, email address, phone number, organisation, the preferred date and your comments, together with the room and catering options you selected. We use this data solely to handle your request, provide you with a price estimate or quote, and contact you.

This data is stored with Google (Firebase / Google Cloud), which acts as our processor and with whom a data processing agreement applies. We keep a request for as long as necessary to follow it up, and delete it afterwards. The legal basis for this processing is the handling of your request (pre-contractual steps) and, where applicable, your consent.

Cookies

Our website uses cookies and similar techniques, such as local storage in your browser. A cookie is a small text file that is stored on your device when you visit the website.

Functional cookies

These are necessary for the website to work. They remember your cookie choice, your accessibility settings and a temporary copy of the website content (local storage in your browser). No personal data is shared with third parties. No consent is required for these.

Analytics cookies (Google Analytics via Firebase)

Only with your consent do we use Google Analytics (via Firebase) to keep visitor statistics, such as the number of visitors, the most visited pages and where visitors come from. Google Analytics does not store IP addresses. Google may process data in the United States; Google is certified for this under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework. If you withdraw your consent, measurement stops and we remove the analytics cookies of this website.

Google Maps and YouTube

On the practical information page we show a Google Maps map and on the home page a video via YouTube (in the privacy-enhanced mode youtube-nocookie.com). These only load after you have given your consent. At that moment Google receives your IP address and may place cookies.

You can change or withdraw your choice at any time via the Cookie preferences button at the bottom of every page.

Retention period

The Grootseminarie Brugge does not keep personal data longer than necessary for the purpose for which it was provided, or as required by law.

We have taken appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data against unlawful processing.

Your rights

You have the right to access, rectify or erase the personal data we have received from you. You can also object to the processing of your personal data (or part thereof) by us or by one of our processors.

You also have the right to have the data you provided transferred by us to you or directly to another party (data portability). We may ask you to identify yourself before we can comply with the aforementioned requests.
